Voters showed up steadily Sunday afternoon, the first of the two-day Longyearbyen Community Council election, with polls open today at Kulturhuset from 10 a.m. to 8 a.m.
The election will select the next 15 members of the council and determine who will serve as mayor for the next four years. Many of the candidates and supporters are scheduled to gather at Stationen beginning around 8 p.m. to await a preliminary vote tally. The final official results are scheduled to be released Tuesday.
